Name: | 12" Half-Round File Bastard Cut |
Description: | Half-Round Files (Bastard Cut) are two-sided files featuring a rounded face on one side, and a flat face on the opposite side. Both the rounded face and the flat face feature a double bastard cut pattern. Bastard cut is a term used to describe the coarseness of the file. A Bastard cut file will be between the coarsest and second cut meaning the teeth are quite coarse and ideal for rapid material removal while still leaving a smooth finish. The Double Cut means that the file has two sets of diagonal rows of teeth. The second set of teeth is cut in the opposite diagonal direction, and on top of the first set. A double cut file is used with heavier pressure than the single-cut and removes material faster from the workpiece. These Half-Round Bastard Files are ideal for rounding out holes and can be used on concave, convex, or flat surfaces. Half-Round bastard files are commonly used for blacksmithing, die casting, grooving, pipe fitting, and various plumbers’ work. * For safety reasons, a file should never be used without a handle. Clean with a wire file cleaner if it gets clogged. |
